The Council on Pakistan Relations (CPR) is currently seeking motivated and qualified undergraduate and graduate students interested in serving as interns at the national and state level. CPR is committed to helping young community leaders reach their full potential and generate and sustain positive change in Washington, D.C., and their local communities by participating in unpaid internships. CPR can help you identify possible internship opportunities, work with you on the application process and help you get the internship. Alumni will return to their communities knowing what it takes to pass legislation, form public policy and create coalitions. In short, they will leave the program better informed about how politics works and more aware of how they can influence the public policy-making process.

* One-page essay describing your current involvement in general political activities, if any. What you hope to gain from an internship, and your plans for future in public policy.

The deadline for submission of CPR Internship applications is March 30, 2010.
Selection Process
Emerging Leader Interns are selected based on the following criteria:
* Solid scholastic achievement
* Strong writing skills
* Community service contributions
* Evidence of leadership skills
About CPR
CPR was established in the summer of 2009 to represent the views of Pakistani Americans and others interested in strengthening relations between Pakistan and the United. CPR’s goal is to work to increase mutual understanding; sensitize U.S. policymakers and other opinion makers to the views and concerns of Pakistanis. The Emerging Leaders Internship Program is a semester-long internship for undergraduate and graduate students. CPR hopes to be a resource and would facilitate internship with opportunities in various capacities including House and Senate committees. Additionally, CPR will assist interns in obtaining internship on Capitol Hill, in federal agencies and at non-profit organizations. In addition, CPR would like their interns participate in leadership-training sessions and visit cultural and historical sites in the Washington, D.C., area.
