MAHERA RAHMAN, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Mahera Rahman joined the Council of Pakistan Relations as the Executive Director in January, 2010. She is responsible for managing CPR’s day-to-day activities which include building grassroots support for CPR; fundraising; lobbying the U.S. Congress and Obama Administration; managing CPR’s online efforts and public relations activities.
Born and brought up in Pakistan, she moved to United States at the age of 16 with her parents. Having lived in all four provinces of Pakistan, she is fortunate enough to understand the different aspects of the cultures and societal norms of Pakistan. Since moving to the United States, she has been very interested in the politics and the development of Pakistan and spent her undergrad years at Goucher College in Baltimore and London School of Economics studying International Business.
As the Executive director, she hopes to create a platform which facilitates Pakistani-Americans to truly engage in domestic and foreign policy initiatives, including various developmental challenges faced by Pakistan today. Additionally, she hopes to create the first ever grassroot database, focusing on bringing together the Pakistani- American leaders, and networks that exists across America.
Prior to joining CPR, Mahera worked for a number of years in Internal Audit and management consulting while working at one of the big four public accounting firms. With extensive operational audit background in a number of industries, she possess strong leadership and rigorous organizational skills.
